If you really want to show off your skills then adding accessories to your cameras can be extremely fun. Probably the best one out there if you are alone is the ability to have timed photographs on your camera.
Obviously, digital is the best route today, but placing the timer and having it do a close up off shore can catch moments you didn't know were happening.
Try putting it on a ten minute timer and let it go through the available pictures. Next thing you know when you're showing everyone else people will be asking who took the photo.
Then of course, you will throw them off guard when they find out it's you. Other options available are external flashes, wide angle lenses, telephoto adapters and much more. However, don't choose any of these features before you've chosen your specific camera.
