Fly Fishing Clothing - All About Comfort

And Color

Fly fishing clothing - dark colors are the best

It is obvious that fly fishing requires special fishing clothing. There are several pieces of clothing and accessories that you will need to have while fishing.

There are two things that you need to keep in mind when choosing your fishing clothing.

One is comfort; you should feel comfortable because you may be in it for a while. Two is color; bright colors like white and red will scare the fish away, dark colors are best to ware when fly-fishing.

RiverBum.com is renowned for its high quality fishing products. Visit their site if you're looking for clothing or any other fishing gear.

One piece of clothing that you will need is a pair of waders. These are essential because you will be wading in water a lot while fly-fishing.

There are two types of waders that each come in two different styles.

First there are hip waders and chest waders; they are pretty self-explanatory. Both hip and chest waders come in either boot or stocking styles. Most people seem to prefer the stocking waders, which are made from neoprene (same thing wetsuits are made from). Read more about waders here.

Another piece of fishing clothing that you will need to go with your fly fishing gear is a vest with lots of pockets.

There is a need for all the pockets because you will need to have a place for many fly-fishing accessories. It would be a real pain to have to return to the shore to get something out of your tackle box. So having a vest that has plenty of pockets with Velcro closures will come in handy, and just as important is a fishing life jacket

You should also have a good pair of long underwear.

These will prevent the heat loss you would have while wading in a cold stream or river while you are fishing. You will want your long underwear to be made of wool or a blend of cotton, wool and polypropylene that is called Durofold. You should also have a pair of nice socks made out of one of these types of fabrics.

A good pair of polarized sunglasses will come in very handy as well.

Having a good pair of sunglasses is very crucial. They will be able to cut the sun out of your eyes and allow you to see movements underwater that will tell you where fish are that you may have not other wise seen due to the glare of the sun on the water.

If you are the type who likes to have a stylish appearance you can find some really cool looking sun glasses at certain surf or beach type shops.

Gloves are also important to any fisherman but they can hinder your ability to feel a slight tug on your rod.

This said, some wonderful person who knew what it was like to have cold hands without gloves, but also knew what it was like to not be able to feel a small tug on your line, invented gloves that have the last joint of the fingers open to allow for that sensitivity. Hats with wide brims are important as well, they will help keep the sun off your head and neck and shade your eyes.

You will need to have all of these things if you plan on fly-fishing.

Everything that is mentioned above is essential for being out in the shallow water during the height of the day. You can find all of this stuff and more at fishing shops or you can buy it online. Or find fly fishing gear at RiverBum.com
